That Time My Sister Killed Me

Because of my awesome new sword, which I'm very happy with, Tiana and I have been going in the backyard the past few days and messing around with fighting. Well, mostly twirling the swords as we realised we knew nothing about sword fighting. I have already been researching it, but know very little. That's why we've begun, and actually already finished, choreographing a fist fight.

Well, technically I choreographed it, but Tiana's fighting in it so... okay yeah I should really just say I. Glad to have that cleared up.

Unfortunately, I've been feeling a bit tired, and it's possible I might be getting sick. So doing something I enjoy is slightly less enjoyable when my body keeps telling me to lay down. I'm hoping that it's not a cold because my colds always go the same:
Gets sore throat and can't speak for a day or so. Overall feeling of sickness with no real symptoms other than a possible runny nose. Coughing for four millennia. On some occasions a very upset stomach so I don't eat all day.
It's not pretty, and you can see why I'd want to avoid it. Of course anybody would want to avoid being sick...

Good news I can report, however, is that choreographing went very fast. Even though I've never had a real self defense or martial arts class, I can feel myself getting more comfortable with fist fighting. Plus, I've been watching a lot of my favorite fight scenes, and somewhere in the back of my head are all those Krav Maga videos I've watched. While I really wanted to implement a knife into the fight (I just really love the Highway Fight from The Winter Soldier) it didn't work out. We decided to make it fairly short. But one day I will choreograph an epic knife fight. One day.

I do, however, get to die in this film.

I know, that probably sounds a bit odd. But it's something that I've wanted to do for some time, weird as it may sound. Though this is a simple fight film with minimal story, so it's not as dramatic a death as I wish to play one day. Really I should get over my fear of acting before talking about all this... it really does terrify me but I still want to do it when the script is right.

A Mighty Blade

Ah sweet Amazon Prime, how is it that you deliver so quickly, and yet waiting feels the same as standard shipping?

Anticipation dear readers. That is what truly counts, and unfortunately Amazon does not have an anti-Anticipation policy on their hands. If they did the world would surely crumble. Wouldn't that be the day?

My wait, however, is halfway over. Most of the items I recently purchased have arrived (the fourth, expectedly a day or two late, the last being on backorder). The calm you may be feeling from me is purely a show because inside I am a bursting bubble of happiness. Why?

I am proud to announce that I officially have my first sword.

Well, a training sword really. I've been looking at one for ages, but finally remembered to buy one when the budgets aligned to do so. I would have bought a real sword, albeit that wouldn't serve the purpose I bought this one for. Not to mention the exceptionally raised prices in comparison. I don't make that much money here.

Needless to say, I'm having a lot of fun with it. I pretty much haven't let it out of my sight since it arrived. Now I won't need my *ahem* PVC stick to practice my swordsmanship. Because I've got the real deal and it's fabulous. Eventually I'm planning on buying the set of double Katana's that Cold Steel sells.

Of course you may wonder why I might be needing a sword? Or why I am so interested in swordsmanship?

I have always been rather enthralled by- oh who am I kidding. I just really love fight scenes in movies. Being that I grew up watching Star Wars at least once a week (I'm not even kidding) swordfighting, or rather, Lightsaber fighting, has been a particular draw.

I've worked on two films with fighting in them, as the Head Choreographer. Though as anyone in their craft may feel when looking back upon their work, I such much room for improvement. Neither of the films involved swords, but even so, I've had quite the drive to research swordsmanship, alongside use of other weaponry and hand to hand combat.

So here I am. At the moment I am studying Medieval European Swordsmanship, though I plan on learning Asian Swordsmanship as well. I have a very basic knowledge of Krav Maga as well, though have not practiced it faithfully. And on a slightly unrelated topic, I'm hoping to pursue Parkour, if I can even find a gym that teaches it near me. That has proven... difficult.

There you have it. I have quite the interest in fighting and now have begun collecting my weaponry. That even includes some wooden knives which I've become fond of carving these last two days. They are very fun to mess around with. Especially since I'm such a fan of the Highway Fight from The Winter Solider. What can I say, Bucky's fighting is kinda perfection.

Why Starting is Hard: A First Post by Me

Why hello there, I'm Alina. Welcome to my awkward first post. I'm never really sure how to start these things out, so I'll just talk about myself for starters. Good to know who you're dealing with, wouldn't you agree?

I happen to be in my eighteenth year of life at the moment (so I'm seventeen, just to clear up any confusion I intended by wording my age in such a way). My hair is untamable and curly. And big. Too big for my taste, but people say it looks fine. So at least some people like it I suppose.

My job is something that takes too much explaining, so I'll just say I'm an Administrative Assistant, or in other words, Empress of PDF's. You need something done with 'em, I'm who you call. Seriously, half of my job is working with PDF's.

If you ever happen upon my Pinterest you'll gather that I'm a writer pretty quickly, as half of my boards are dedicated to story inspiration. I also have a large assortment of boards dedicated specifically to my novels I'm working on now. But those are secret, so you shan't find them. Unless you hack into my account. That would be unfortunate for me.

The barn, in my mind, is the place to be. I ride once a week at All Star Stables, the best stable in the world. Wonderful people, equally great horses, and a cozy atmosphere. I trade work for lessons, so every Thursday I'm out working with the horses. It's more than I could have dreamed for, as my current future plans include running an equestrian center. What I've learned about caring for horses has been just as valuable as what I've learned in riding.

Quick note between interests here, it's kind horrible having two passions that sound identical in speech. Writing and riding. They can be easily confused and I've actually mistook one for the other in a conversation before. Needless to say that was awkward.

Moving on to the job we all wish was real, but really isn't. Being a fangirl. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it. Kidding, I love being a fangirl. I have many a fandoms, and I won't even try to list them here. So keep an eye out in my posts to see what I'm obsessed with. Or ask. That's cool too.

History is yet another passion of mine. All my life I've enjoyed historical fiction, but it's come to more than that. I'm obsessed with the Romanov history, as well as highly intrigued by Elizabeth's story, Catherine the Great's life story, particularly that of before she was Empress, and not to mention countless other royals through history. I'm sure you can expect posts here and there about my findings. I get rather excited about it, but don't have anyone with quite the same enthusiasm about my small findings in the pages of history.

Finally we land on the topic of music. A subject that has infiltrated my heart and taken over my soul (just realised that was like a twisted quote of Love Never Dies). I know many a persons who are moved by music. In fact, I think a rare few people don't have some attachment to a song. But I've apparently always been a musical type person. According to other people I have a talent for hearing songs and being able to recreate them on piano. I've never felt this as anything other than normal. My love for music has even branched into composing, an interest which I haven't pursued as much as I hope to do in the future.

I also like an assortment of other things, but honestly these are the main ones that define me. But before I wrap up I at least had to mention that I enjoy baking quite a bit (I've baked over ten cakes this year. Not for any occasion. I just really like cake). Generally the mood strikes on a Wednesday, the day I am in charge of keeping the kitchen clean. Honestly, how do I manage that...

You now know my life story. Who I am. Where I've been. Strengths and weaknesses. All there for the taking.

So drop a comment! Share my posts if you find them worthy! Tell your friends, and most definitely come back for more.
